Clam chowder. 11/1/22

At last we had a rainy day here in Northern California! So we scuttled our plans to have grilled hamburgers and went with a rainy day soup. The clam chowder I make is not the thick type you usually associate … Continue reading

Chicken spaghetti vegetable soup. 10/30/22

While John was having an omelet (again!) for his Sunday supper, I decided to raid the produce bins in the refrigerator, use up the rest of the pulled chicken from enchilada night, and break up some whole wheat spaghetti for … Continue reading

Gazpacho and avocado toast 8/24/22

This week’s gazpacho is the same recipe as last week’s except instead of a squirt of sriracha I put in two Thai chiles. It was pretty spicy but I liked the contrast of the cold soup and the hot flavor. … Continue reading

Vegan gazpacho and avocado toast 8/17/22

John could not stop raving about how good this dinner was! Seriously it is so simple to make that all the praise was rather embarrassing. In our week of hot weather meals gazpacho and avocado toast was the easiest and … Continue reading

Connecticut clam chowder. 8/09/22

Before we moved to Northern California, almost thirty years ago, we lived in North Carolina and Massachusetts. Living in different parts of the United States exposed me to regional cuisines. Originally from the Jersey shore where the pizza is the … Continue reading

Matzoh ball soup 5/4/22

We still are finishing up leftovers from Sunday. This soup was made from a packaged mix but we diluted it a little more since it is very salty and added extra vegetables and some chicken pieces.
