Last week I harvested a bunch of basil from my two backyard basil plants to make pesto. Since I did not have quite enough I used some store-bought Italian parsley to supplement the basil. I used this recipe from the … Continue reading

Turkey sausage with sauerkraut and BBQ beans. 9/13/21

I enjoyed this dinner so much! Plus it only took about 20 minutes to make! First, the sauerkraut. I read somewhere that the tastiest sauerkraut is Libby’s in a can. Sauerkraut does not like light so to stabilize the kraut … Continue reading

Hot night, cool dinner. 9/8/21

In the San Francisco Bay Area September is the hottest month of the year. For those of us brought up in the mid-Atlantic states and New England, we are expecting a cool break in the weather. Even though I have … Continue reading

Here is my Sunday egg dinner with a new spin on it. I made a thin egg disc and then rolled it up and cut it like linguine. I sautéed a bunch of vegetables—carrots, broccoli, celery, mushrooms, and fennel. When … Continue reading

Pasta with tuna, arugula, and capers. 8/30/21

We made this dish with whole grain spaghetti but probably any pasta will work. It is kind of like a puttanesca preparation except there are no tomatoes and tuna is added. It turned out well and I am sure we … Continue reading

Roasted Chilean sea bass, new potatoes, green beans. 8/27/21

If you have good ingredients then your dinner will be delicious without very much embellishment. Tonight’s dinner consisted of great ingredients simply prepared. John roasted the sea bass at 400F for 12 to 14 minutes ( it depends on the … Continue reading
